Noah's first haircut
HORRIBLE.
Can you say, “Regret”?
Let me first start off by saying Noah was an ANGEL while getting his haircut. No cries, no screaming, no complaining. He was enjoying himself sitting on top of the cushion and playing with all the toys. The kid getting his haircut before Noah was screaming his head off. I was thinking to myself, “What are we in for?!” but Noah was an Angel. Seriously.
Now the cut itself. Picture Shakespearean times. Men in the15th Century. You know, the short bangs and wings on the sides and curls in the back. Noah looks like he should be wearing tights, a brocade vest and blouse with puffy sleeves. Yes, it’s that bad.
We should have either let his hair grow all crazy, wild man stylie OR just buzzed it off. What we did was get him a trim to keep the integrity of his beloved curls. This in between cut just looks silly and the woman didn’t even cut his bangs straight. I could have done a better job! (We went to Okie Dokie Kids Salon, BTW). There was something so off-putting about the haircut at first that I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what was wrong. It was just a little bit off EVERYWHERE. I suggested trimming the sides more and Greg will not let me live this suggestion down. No, I did not want to turn Noah’s already horrible haircut into a mullet but something needed to be fixed, something…ANYTHING! And while this suggestion was not a good idea and when I said it I knew it was definitely NOT the solution – but like I said, SOMETHING (and I wasn’t exactly sure WHAT) needed to be done!
But by this time, Noah was done. He had sat still like an Angel for long enough and he wanted to get down. Our window was closed. And we were stuck with a terrible, awful haircut. The question now is…let it grow out again or buzz it off? Tell me what you think...
BEFORE the haircut. (He is growing out of the RHCP onesie, so I had to squeeze him in it one last time for this very momentous event)
But then something goes horribly wrong.
And it gets worse. We are powerless to stop the inevitable.
And then...TAH-DAH!
Hair grows really quickly, right?
